Update: Police investigating Providence shooting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Police are probing the shooting Tuesday evening of a man who was sitting in his car outside of his residence at 91 Touro St., near Lombardi Street.

Major Thomas F. Oates III, detective commander, said officers were summoned just before 9 p.m. and found Kamau Rose, 20, complaining of a gunshot wound in the buttocks. Rose was treated in Rhode Island Hospital.

Rose told officers that he heard shots, climbed out of his car on the passenger side and ran to the house. He then discovered he had been shot.

Witnesses described a man in dark clothing who ran to a waiting vehicle and drove off.

Oates said that Rose told investigators he saw no one and had no idea who would want to shoot him.
