EAST GREENWICH, R.I. -- The police said Friday they are looking for the public's help after a woman reported that she had been attacked while getting out of her car at her home at 100 Hunters Crossing Thursday night.

The police said the 53-year-old woman, whom they did not identify, reported the attack 9:13 p.m. She said she had just gotten out of her car when she was grabbed by the hair from behind by a man who then put his hand at her throat.

She said that after she kicked backward to try to break free, her attacker released her and fled.
