PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- A car struck a house Friday morning, apparently injuring the vehicle's occupants.
The Toyota struck the corner of the two-family house at 718-720 East Ave., near Ridge Street, around 11 a.m.
The foundation of the house was bashed in, leaving a two-foot gap at one corner.
Homeowner Craig McLaughlin said there were two women and a baby in the car. He said they were taken away by rescue trucks.
McLaughlin said he had been across the street at Gulf Express getting gas, when he heard the crash. He said the car had come from across the street at Blackstone Place, where there is a Rite Aid pharmacy and other stores. He said the car apparently went through the parking lot, across the street, jumped the curb and hit the house at full speed.
"I'm glad I wasn't checking my mail," McLaughlin said.
