Cranston man reports coyote bite

CRANSTON, R.I. -- The Police Department said Friday that a man was bitten by a coyote while walking in his yard on Riverfarm Road.

Police said the man, not identified, was treated in Kent Hospital.

Police said residents should:

* Make sure that pets that require rabies vaccinations are up to date with their shots.

* Avoid human and pet contact with wild animals.

* Secure food products or trash that may tend to attract wild animals.

* Report bites or other contacts with wild animals.
