Keywords:EAST GREENWICH, R.I. -- Stanley-Bostitch announced Friday that it will close its nail production facility this year, eliminating 165 jobs.
"It's pretty much financial driven," company spokesman Timothy Perra said.
The shut down will happen gradually from April to October, Perra said. After it is done, about 180 jobs will remain in other departments at the East Greenwich operation, he said. Some of the workers whose jobs are eliminated may be offered other work on a case by case basis.
Perra said the company would keep the production equipment in East Greenwich through the third quarter of this year, after which it would eventually distribute the equipment to its other nail production facilities.
